1. Integrity - Having sound integrity is very important in the day to day decisions you make that have long term implications in your personal life, your career and business and most importantly your role as a partner and parent. Warren Buffet at one point the richest man in the planet and now among the wealthiest individuals in the world said 'It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.'
2. Discipline - Scott Peck the world renowned psychologist in the first chapter of his book 'The Road Less Traveled' wrote.. 'Life is difficult, with some discipline you can solve some of your problems with a lot of discipline you can solve most of your problems' Without discipline sustained tremendous success in your life is impossible. 3.Empathy - IQ is important but EQ is more important. Empathy is one of the least practiced traits in people. Simply put, Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Possessing and developing your empathy goes a long way to build strong relationships within your inner circle of friends and family and in your career, business and society at large. Gautama Buddha said..'Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant with the weak and wrong. Sometime in your life, you will have been all of these.' 4. Being Grateful - Finding Joy in everything you do has a lot to do with how grateful you are for what you have already. How often are we actively and passionately grateful for the people in our lives, for what God or the universe has blessed us with. Practicing mindful gratefulness is an integral part of being happy. 5.Humility - The moment you think you have arrived you cease to go anywhere else. Albert Einstein - 'A true genius admits that he/she knows nothing.' I don't believe in false humility or being humble for its sake, its okay to be aware of certain proficiencies or achievements you have made and find joy in those. But always understand that the process of acquiring these proficiencies and achievements is not a destination but an ongoing fun journey which brings us to the next trait - The Growth Mindset 6.Growth Mindset - Having a growth mindset is remarkable. The inherent desire to improve, combined with the discipline and ability to apply yourself and continuously learn and improve is what makes life very meaningful. This trait will ensure that you are able to change and adapt to life and succeed. 7. World Citizenship - You are a citizen of this world. What are you doing to give back to this world, how are you contributing? Its very important to use your skills, ability, talents and resources to give back to those in this world who are in need. Developing all these traits will help you build a strong character and be happier in the various aspects of your life. Click below to learn more.. |
